Ian holds the degrees of PhD, MTh, MEd (Hons), BTh (Hons), BA, DipEd.
Ian teaches and supervises research in the area of Bible, with particular interest in the New Testament. Prior to his appointment to the PTC in 1995, he was a lecturer and the Dean of Studies at the Talua Ministry Training Centre, Vanuatu from 1989-1994. From 1985-1989 Ian was the minister of Griffith Presbyterian Church. From 1979-1981, Ian was a high school teacher of French, Indonesian and English.
Ian is the Head of the Department of Bible and Languages for the Australian College of Theology.
Ian preaches and speaks regularly at many churches and conferences, both in Australia and overseas.
