Attitude Adjusters for Those on the Front Lines
How does the evil one shoot at those on the front lines—pastors, church planters, other church leaders? The answer is that he often shoots at our faith, seeking to destroy our hearts and get us discouraged, doubting, weak, regretful, resentful, prideful, worried, gloomy and so on. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he answered the devil’s barbs with Scripture. Just as it did for Jesus, Scripture strengthens our faith enabling us to be shielded against the attacks. Paul reminds us to “stand firm ... taking up the shield of faith which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Here are verses to use as a “shield of faith.”
